When Truth Is Questioned

November 12, 2025

2 Timothy 3:16–17 — God’s Word reminds us that when truth is questioned, discipleship means standing firm in what Scripture teaches, allowing His truth to guide and equip us completely.

Devotional: When truth is questioned, confusion follows close behind. We live in a world that blurs the lines, reshapes right and wrong, and labels conviction as intolerance. In that kind of noise, holding fast to God’s truth can feel like standing against the tide. But when truth is questioned, that’s exactly what discipleship looks like—standing firm, not in opinion or preference, but in the Word that never changes.

Paul wrote to Timothy during a time of deception and division. False teachers were twisting Scripture, and believers were being pulled in every direction. His message to the young pastor was clear: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” In other words, the truth we hold isn’t a set of ideas we protect—it’s a living word that shapes us from the inside out.

When truth is questioned, we don’t defend God’s Word by shouting louder; we reveal its power by living it out. The Bible doesn’t need us to make it relevant—it already is. What it needs is for disciples to trust it, to anchor their decisions, values, and compassion in it. The more the world wavers, the more vital it becomes for us to reflect Scripture through steady faith, patient love, and unwavering hope.

In Haggai’s day, the people of Judah faced a different kind of questioning. They wondered if God’s promises still stood after years of waiting and hardship. God answered not with explanations but with presence—His Spirit among them, His word to guide them. Today, we hold that same assurance. When the world doubts, the Word still speaks. When people redefine truth, God still reigns.

Action: Ground your day in Scripture. Before responding to the world, listen to God’s Word and let it shape your truth and tone.

Prayer: Lord, when truth is questioned, anchor me in Your Word. Teach me to live what I believe and to reflect Your truth through grace and courage. Help me stand firm, not in pride, but in quiet confidence that Your Word endures forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thought for the Day: When truth is questioned, stand firm in the Word that never changes.
