Ephesians 2:19–22 declares that we are no longer strangers but members of God’s household, built together into a dwelling where God lives by His Spirit. Members of One Household reminds us that the Church is not an institution—it’s a living home that unites saints across generations in God’s love.
Devotional:
The communion of saints isn’t an abstract idea—it’s a household. Paul says we are “no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people.” That means every believer—past, present, and future—belongs under the same roof of grace.
Think about that for a moment. The saints aren’t distant heroes; they’re family. The Church isn’t just an organization; it’s a home being built stone by stone, life by life, through the Spirit of God. Each act of faith, each prayer whispered, each sacrifice made for love’s sake—it all becomes part of the structure.
When we gather in worship, we’re stepping into that house together. The laughter of children in the pews, the prayers of the elderly, the memories of those who once sat beside us—all of it fills the same space. Heaven isn’t far away; it’s the upstairs room in a home already under construction.
As disciples, we don’t just wait for that home to be finished—we help build it. Every time we forgive, serve, or love someone in Jesus’ name, we’re adding another stone to the dwelling where God lives. The saints who have gone before are not gone from the work; they’re part of its foundation. The walls of heaven and earth are thinner than we think.
Action: Do one small act of love today as a “living stone” in God’s house—write a note, make a call, or offer kindness where it’s needed most.
Prayer: Builder of our faith, thank You for making us part of Your household. Help us remember that Your Church stretches beyond time and place. Let every act of love become part of Your eternal dwelling. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for the Day: The saints aren’t gone—they’re just home ahead of us.
