Communion That Never Ends: Love Beyond the Veil

November 2, 2025

Revelation 7:9–17 shows a vast multitude from every nation standing before the throne, robed in white, worshiping God together forever. Communion That Never Ends reminds us that All Saints’ Day isn’t about loss—it’s about belonging. When we remember the saints, we aren’t just looking back; we’re looking through the veil to what’s still real and present in Christ. John’s vision isn’t a dream of someday—it’s a glimpse of what’s happening right now.

Devotional: All Saints’ Day isn’t about loss—it’s about belonging. When we remember the saints, we aren’t just looking back; we’re looking through the veil to see what’s still real and present in Christ. John’s vision in Revelation isn’t a dream of someday—it’s a glimpse of what’s happening right now. Communion that never ends reminds us that those who’ve gone before us are not gone from us; they are part of the worship that never stops.

Picture it: people of every nation and language, hands lifted, faces radiant, singing, “Salvation belongs to our God.” Their pain is gone, their tears are wiped away, and their joy rises like a great tide before the throne. But here’s what we often miss—when we gather at Christ’s Table, our worship joins theirs. The same Lamb who leads them by streams of living water also feeds us with grace in this world. Heaven and earth aren’t separate realities; they overlap wherever Christ is present.

Every time we celebrate Communion, the church visible and invisible kneels side by side. The saints you love—your mother, your friend, your child—they’re not beyond your reach. They’re part of the same family still gathered around the same Lord. The veil may keep you from seeing them, but it doesn’t keep love from flowing between you. The communion of saints is God’s promise that nothing—neither death nor distance—can break the fellowship we share in Christ.

So today, as you come to the Table or light a candle in remembrance, don’t just think of absence. Think of union. Think of what it means that your story is still connected to theirs. The song continues, and someday, when faith becomes sight, we’ll realize the truth that’s been shining all along: the communion never ends.

Action: Light a candle tonight and thank God for one person whose faith helped shape yours.

Prayer: Eternal God, thank You for the saints who surround us, seen and unseen. Help us live as part of Your great communion, faithful in love and steady in hope. May our worship echo theirs until the day faith becomes sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the Day: The communion of saints means love never ends—it just changes addresses.
