The Spirit Gives Life — A wide 16:9 photo-realistic image of sunrise light breaking through dark clouds over a mountain landscape, symbolizing resurrection power and renewed life. The image includes the title The Spirit Gives Life and the full scripture text of Romans 8:10–11.

In Romans 8:10-11, Paul teaches that even though our bodies experience weakness and mortality, the Spirit of God brings life because of righteousness. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in believers and gives life both now and forever.

Devotional: There are seasons when life feels heavy. We may not be able to explain it clearly, but we sense fatigue in our spirit. Motivation fades. Joy feels distant. Even faith can seem harder to access than it once was. Lent often brings those feelings closer to the surface because it calls us into reflection and honesty.

Paul speaks into that experience with extraordinary hope. He reminds believers that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is alive within them. That truth can be easy to overlook because it feels almost too big to grasp. Yet it means that God’s life is not distant or theoretical. It is present and active within us right now.

The Spirit gives life in ways we often do not immediately notice. Sometimes it appears as renewed strength to keep going. Sometimes as peace in the middle of uncertainty. Sometimes as quiet courage to trust God when circumstances remain difficult. The Spirit’s presence does not remove every struggle, but it changes how we walk through them.

Lent teaches us to depend less on our own energy and more on God’s power. When we recognize our limits, we also become more open to receiving what God provides. The same power that brought resurrection life to Jesus is working within us, bringing renewal, healing, and hope.

That does not mean we will always feel strong. It means God’s strength is not limited by our weakness. It means life can grow even in difficult seasons.

As we continue through Lent, we are invited to trust that God’s Spirit is sustaining us in ways we cannot always see. We may feel tired, uncertain, or discouraged, but God’s life remains present. Resurrection begins long before Easter morning.

Action: Pause today and take several slow breaths. With each breath, silently pray, “Your Spirit gives me life.” Let that truth settle into your heart.

Prayer: Life-giving God, thank You that Your Spirit lives within me. When I feel weak or discouraged, remind me that Your power is greater than my limitations. During this Lenten season, renew my strength and deepen my trust in You. Help me walk forward with hope, knowing that Your life is at work within me even when I cannot see it clearly. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day: God’s Spirit brings life even in our weakest moments.

Romans 8:10-11 reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus now lives in us. Lent invites us to trust God’s life-giving power, even when we feel weak or weary.
