Mississippi ranked:

o 2nd in the U.S. in gun deaths (2014)

o 1ST in the U.S. in unintentional deaths by firearms: 3x national average (2014)

o 4th in the U.S. for child and teen gun deaths (2013)

JACKSON had the HIGHEST murder rate of any medium-sized city in the country (2016)

Mississippi does not require a permit to buy or carry a handgun

Mississippi has no laws that impose criminal liability for a minor that carries, uses or causes injury with a gun

From 2000 to 2010, 508 Mississippi children and teens were killed by guns
